Music. Her love was a facade. Now I'm feeling so low Deception in her eyes I believed all her lies, broken heart. Welcome to Absolutely Focused Radio. I'm your host, daniel the Bud Nelson, and today we're diving into a subject that hit close to home for so many Family unity, the journey of sobriety and overcoming difficult family dynamics.

Speaker 1:

My goal and I know it's the same for many of you is to build a family filled with love, support and trust, not competition or conflict. But the reality is, family life isn't always smooth sailing. You might be on a journey of growth, working on your sobriety, and then you realize that your partner well, they might not be on the same journey. Instead of unity, they might be creating division, using subtle tactics and even involving the kids in ways that throws everything off balance. And if you're nodding along, thinking, yep, I've been there, this episode is for you. Let's talk about how we can stay grounded, maintain our mental health and set an example for our kids, even when things get tough.

Speaker 1:

First off, why is family unity so important, especially when you're on a sobriety journey? For starters, kids are watching everything we do. They're learning from us about what love, respect and conflict look like, and conflict look like so when we're working on our sobriety or our personal growth, creating a peaceful family environment becomes crucial for everyone's well-being. Now here's where things get tricky. Suppose your partner isn't on the same page. They might say things to the kids like I'm the one who always sacrifices, or make comments hinting that they're the misunderstood parent. It's subtle, but it creates division, isolating you and positioning them as the good one, and slowly it shifts the family's balance. And here's what's important. Kids don't just experience this, they're affected by it. Studies from the American Psychological Association shows that children raised in high-conflict environments are more likely to face anxiety, depression and trust issues as they grow. This doesn't just impact the kids, it affects the entire family dynamic, especially when you're trying to stay committed to sobriety.

Speaker 1:

Chronic stress, especially from manipulation, can be one of the biggest triggers for relapse. But let's talk about solutions. We live in a tech-savvy world and there are tools out there that can help us manage these challenges. So let's go over two apps that have been game changers for many people navigating similar situations. First up, we have BetterHelp. It's an online counseling platform for both iOS and Android. Betterhelp connects you with licensed therapists from the comfort of home or wherever you feel most at ease. You can even access counseling sessions on your lunch break or during downtime. Or during downtime, studies show that people who engage in regular counseling report up to a 73% decrease in stress levels over time, making it a powerful tool for mental wellness. Next, there's Headspace, which is also available on iOS and Android. This app offers guided meditations that are perfect for reducing stress, focusing on mind and building resilience. Meditation has been shown to reduce symptoms of anxiety by up to 60%, and this is especially useful for when you're navigating through unpredictable family situations. With short daily sessions, headspace is a great way to prioritize mental health, even on busy days.

Speaker 1:

Now let's circle back. If you're dealing with a partner who creates conflict or tries to position themselves as a victim, it's challenging to stay focused on your own growth. But here's the thing no matter what happens around you every day, you have the power to show up as the person you're working to become. And to anyone who might recognize themselves in this behavior, it's never too late to become. And to anyone who might recognize themselves in this behavior, it's never too late to change. Real strength is about building trust and respect without the need for control or manipulation. Imagine a life where your kids don't feel pressured to pick sides, where they could see both parents at peace, respecting each other's journeys. Real change starts with the choice to face things honestly and let go of the need to control. And for those of us working hard to keep the family together, remember this. Your commitment to growth, sobriety and peace is a powerful example. Your kids are learning resilience and strength just by watching you choose to stay the course.

Speaker 1:

Let's wrap up. Staying committed to your journey, using technology to manage mental health and building a peaceful family environment aren't just for you, they're for everyone around you. And change Change is always within reach. If you're creating unity, keep going. If you're working to break old patterns, keep working. Real growth, real peace they're always possible. I'll leave you with a quote of mine. True peace isn't about avoiding conflict. It's about facing it with an open heart and a focused mind. Good day and blessings to all.
